ABOUT THE ARTIST
Arlen Dax Sullivan (otherwise known as RAT WEDNESDAY) is a self-taught artist currently living in the mid-Atlantic United States. Their primary discipline is in digital illustrations of fantasy creatures and characters, with a newfound passion for traditional artwork in the form of pen and ink drawings. Arlen made the leap to full-time freelance artwork at the start of 2021 and hasn't looked back since. While their primary focus has been on private commissions, they were accepted to their first Artist Alley vending space in the summer of 2023, and this new side to the work has been a deeply rewarding endeavor that brings together product development, business design, and cultivation of a community of peers. When not drawing dragons, Arlen can be found wandering the East Coast, trying new cuisines, and petting any cat they come across.
RAT WEDNESDAY 2025
Super Secret Convention Portfolio
Hello! My name is Arlen, and I make art as RAT WEDNESDAY.
I've been a part-time freelancer since 2017, full-time since January 2021, and 2025 marks my second year of vending at furry conventions. My work sits at the meeting point between furry and fantasy illustration. I create art of colorful beasts from fantasy and folklore, drawing them as everything from deities and archetypes of self-actualization, to slice-of-life portraits. I focus on creating beautiful giclee prints on fine art paper in my home studio, along with original paintings and drawings.Along with that, I've also explored stickers, notepads, bandanas, tapestries, and bookmarks; for 2025, I'm looking to add small-batch screen-printed apparel and totes, wooden charms, and pins along with art books and zines. I prioritize doing as much of the work by hand as possible, and outsource when necessary. My current goal with vending in furry is to bring a unique voice into the scene, focusing on small-batch production and handmade work with occasional manufactured products. So far, the audiences at the events that I've been accepted to have been delighted to see me there!Thank you for your consideration!
